The Opportunity

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage ecological surveys and develop mitigation strategies for a wide range of projects.
• Conduct and oversee habitat surveys and protected species assessments according to Phase 1/UK Habs standards.
• Create and review comprehensive ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs) and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs).
• Mentor and nurture the development of junior ecologists to build a strong team.
• Engage effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, offering clear and practical ecological guidance.
• Strengthen and maintain high standards of client relationships and consultancy.

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a relevant field.
• At least 4 years of experience in ecological consultancy.
• Proficient fieldwork skills, including habitat and protected species surveys.
• Comprehensive understanding of UK ecological legislation and planning policy.
• Exceptional technical report writing skills in line with CIEEM guidelines.
• Strong commercial awareness and client management capabilities.
• Ideally, possess a Natural England Bat and/or GCN licence (Level 1 or higher preferred).
• Valid UK driving licence.
• CIEEM membership or working towards membership.
