An exciting role in the finance department of the company: the post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of an efficient payroll system

Key responsibilities

Managing computer software and systems:

Sage for weekly and monthly payments, Carefree to check homecare staff hours, gross and mileage, IQX to prepare NHS staff weekly payments, Eclipse to timesheet and invoice doctors and run the payments report

To pay employees and compile payroll information by managing payroll preparation; completing reports; maintaining records

Maintains payroll information in Sage system; recording all the collection, calculation, and entering of data

Checking people's hours in all systems

Working out tax and national insurance deductions

Setting up new members of staff

Calculating overtime, other work done, driving, expenses, food allowance, commission, bonuses and enter payments in Sage

Managing special situations like maternity or sickness pay

Issuing tax forms (P45s for leavers, P60 at the end of financial year), updating system with new tax codes with the Paye coding notice from HMRC

Setting up attachments of earnings and child support, making all deductions and ensure all payments to Child Support Agency, Debt Work Management, Court or other institutions are done.

Write and send out pension letters to employee

Downloading and uploading Member enrolment files and pension contributions files under NEST account

Making any necessary changes in the contributions files to match the weekly or monthly pension report (Sage)

Run and print all payments reports (payments summaries, FPS (full payment submission) liability, attachment of earnings reports, DEO report, deductions, pension)

Skills and Qualities Required:

Ability to use own initiative but also know when matters need to be referred to a senior staff member. If a query has been presented to you and you are unable to resolve the matter after 7 days, it must then be escalated to the head of department

Ability to work on tight deadlines

Accuracy and attention to detail

Good typing skills, accurate spelling and grammar

Computer literate with software skills, as well as Internet research abilities

Good communication skills

Must be punctual and adhere to your agreed working hours

To adhere to set department budget constraints

Strong organisational, written and verbal skills, able to multi task

Self- motivated and determined individual seeking a challenging role

A flexible approach and a team player

Able to deal with and manage conflict in a professional calm manner

Qualifications and Experience:

AAT Level 3-4 or relevant experience in similar industries

Must have at least 2 years' experience in a similar role

Good knowledge of Excel Spread Sheets and Sage Accounting package
