At The Manchester College we have an exciting opportunity to join us as an Assistant Principal for Maths & English on a permanent, full time (37 hours per week) basis.

What the role entails

The Assistant Principal of English & Maths will take a strategic lead in the development of English and Maths (GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications) across the college to ensure outstanding outcomes for students. The suitable candidate will have a proven track record in improving English and maths provision and provide inspirational leadership, putting the student experience and student success at the forefront of everything they do.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience required for the role of Assistant Principal - English and Maths

A teaching qualification
Educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification
Proven track record of management of a large and diverse team
Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
Considerable experience of working cross college with a range of services, stakeholders and departments to meet shared goals
Significant experience in leading & managing in a diverse, complex and rapidly changing environmentKey responsibilities in the role of Assistant Principal of English & Maths include:

Lead on the planning and delivery of English and maths provision, including functional skills and GCSEs, across all funding streams
Work closely with other Assistant Principals to ensure a high quality delivery model which enables students to achieve the best grades possible
Lead the development of a culture based around high standards and expectations of staff and students
Identify key developments in English and Maths representing the college at internal and external events and forums
Implement effective assessment and monitoring of students' progress in English and maths, with appropriate interventions taking place as required
