Purpose of the Role

To lead the development and implementation of Additional Learning Support across Pathway Group, ensuring all learners with additional needs are identified, supported, and monitored effectively. The role will involve establishing and maintaining support systems, managing resources, and coordinating with staff across all provisions to create an inclusive learning environment.

This is a hybrid, full-time position requiring regular travel to all Pathway Group centres. The role includes managing a developing ALS team and involves working closely with Contract Leads, tutors, and the Quality team. Flexibility in working hours is essential to accommodate learner and business needs.

Lead the development and implementation of ALS processes across all provisions

Manage the identification and assessment of learners requiring additional support

Coordinate the creation and maintenance of support resources

Provide guidance and training to staff on supporting learners with additional needs

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support provided

Maintain accurate records and produce regular reports on ALS provision

Develop and maintain relationships with external support agencies

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and funding requirements

Manage ALS budget and resources effectively

Support the recruitment and development of specialist ALS staff

Essential Knowledge and Skills

Recognised ALS/SEND qualification at Level 5 (or working towards)

Minimum 1-2 years' experience in ALS coordination role

Experience of working in Further Education or Adult Learning

Knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practices

Experience in developing and implementing support processes

Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office suite

Experience in staff training and development

Understanding of funding requirements for ALS

Evidence of successful project management

Experience in data analysis and report writing

Desirable qualifications and experience

Specialist ALS/SEND qualifications (e.g., dyslexia assessment, autism)

Experience in online learning environments

Knowledge of assistive technology

Experience with quality assurance processes

Knowledge of vocational training environments

Experience with various learning platforms

Budget management experience
